Fall Outdoor Cleanup Round 2

Our second outdoor cleanup of the Fall semester did not go as expected. We advertised through the same means as our previous event, and predicted around the same attendance. We even picked a longer route to cover more area with our assumed group of at least 8.
Unfortunately, I received a handful of texts the night prior and morning of the cleanup. Most students canceled due to COVID-related reasons, as well as a couple unexpected scheduling conflicts. Showing up to our site Sunday morning, we had a total of 4 people for an almost 2 mile route. Nevertheless, we were determined to cover as much distance as we could. We ended up only being able to clean around one-half of our route, mainly due to time constraints. Despite this, we were able to fill our bags with trash and make the street look much nicer!
While we were cleaning, we ran into another group of volunteers from Circle K, a student-led service organization at UF. They were cleaning a road perpendicular to ours, working with Gainesville's Adopt-A-Street program, and we stopped to talk with them for a few minutes. It was really cool to see and realize the large role UF student organizations play in our community.
Date: Sunday, Nov 7th, 9:30-11am
