The annual Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is a holiday meant to be a day on, not a day off. UF IEEE participated in the UF MLK Day of Service which honors the commitment to social justice and reform that Dr. King promoted by providing UF students the opportunity to give back to their community.
UF IEEE community service team lead a group to help The Hunger Project event at our student union. Our members worked alongside Feeding America and other student volunteers to package over 20,000 meals for those in need. These meals directly impacted the Gainesville area and even food insecure students at our university. Feeding America is a non-profit that has helped to feed over 40 million people while working with more than 200 food banks around the United States.
