Our First Outdoor Cleanup

We had our first outdoor cleanup of the school year on what turned out to be a very hot Sunday morning. With this being our first event, we had no idea what the turnout would be. We advertised for the event using surveys to gauge interest, slack announcements, and through our second GBM. In the end, the event ended up having a solid turnout of 8 people, which was perfect for our shorter cleaning route.
What I loved about this event was getting the chance to meet and talk with other students while cleaning along our route. I was an IEEE member in 2020, but sadly was never able to attend any of the few in-person events that were hosted that year, so this cleanup felt like the first true IEEE event I'd been a part of. Several of the students who attended were either new to UF, IEEE, or both, so it was fun to get to know them and share more with them about our club.
Date: Sunday, October 10th, 9:30 - 11am

It was great to finally get back and do an in person event after two years. Seeing our members face-to-face, while also making a positive difference in our community, was a great time for us as an organization.
